Full Description
The stones were first recorded by the Ordnance Survey and appear on both the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. The stones, the northern of which is now fallen, are situated at the eastern end of a low, natural mound, on the south-facing slope 260 m south of Knowehead steading. The upright stone is 2.2 m high x 1.2 m wide x 0.38 m deep, and the fallen stone is 2 m long x 1 m wide. Thom, and Thom and Burl suggest a lunar alignment, possibly the Moon at the major standstill.
