Full Description

Trial trenching evaluation carried out by CFA in 2013 along the proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route recorded two features at this location: a meandering linear feature and a large pit. A single sherd of prehistoric pottery was recovered during the excavation. Excavation by CFA in June 2014 confirmed the linear feature to be a palaeochannel and a second channel was also identified. Seven pits excavated were thought to originate from agricultural stone extraction. Field drains indicate intensive use of the land in the post-medieval period.
