Full Description
Site of a grave, which contained the remains of an extended burial. It was uncovered by coastal erosion and discovered in 1986. The skeleton was aligned west-southwest to east-northeast with its head having been at the west end. It was buried without a coffin, footless and missing part of the head (the mandible survived). The grave was cut by a pit containing lime-burning waste and overlain by a line of limestone blocks. The skeleton was male, probably late teens. Subsequent dating of the remains proved it to be of medieval date (1190 to 1410 AD).
