Full Description
Site of a souterrain which was discovered in 1813 whilst digging out an upright stone. It was lined with stones and roofed with slabs, and lay circa 0.61m below ground level, measuring 18.3m long, 1.2m wide, and approx. 2.3m high. The entrance was in the east, formed by steps cut into the earth. At the west end was a circular chamber containing potsherds, burnt wood, chips of flint, pebbles and an oblong bead. The walls and roof appeared blackened by fire. It was closed up again but in 1849 it was re-opened and the stones removed. Now no visible trace.
