Description
Souterrain discovered in 1813 whilst digging out an upright stone. It was lined with stones and roofed with slabs, and lay circa 0.61 m below ground level, measuring 18.3 m long, 1.2 m wide, and approximately 2.3 m high. The entrance was in the east, formed by steps cut into the earth. At the west end was a circular chamber containing potsherds, burnt wood, chips of flint, pebbles, and an oblong bead. The walls and roof appeared blackened by fire. Access was blocked again but in 1849 it was re-opened and the stones removed.
