Full Description
A discrete deposit and linear ditch excavated by CFA in 2019 during a watching brief within the cable route corridor for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm (NJ66SE0330). The deposit measured 0.5 m by 0.06 m deep, with a fill containing charcoal and a single sherd of prehistoric pottery, possibly the very base of a truncated fire pit. The sherd was a large rim of an open bowl form, with a cordon below the rim, likely Neolithic in date. The linear ditch was on a north south alignment with vertical sides, the remains of the mill lade shown on the historic OS maps associated with the farmstead Milltack (NJ75NW0051).
