Full Description

Site of standing stone and alleged site of a stone circle. Coles in 1903 noted a standing stone (1.55m high) on the crest of a hill, and several blocks of similar form and size in in a nearby dyke surrounding a plantation to the north, suggesting a possible stone circle. OS in 1969 found no trace of the standing stone, noting that the interior of the plantation is rather stony, but this is possibly due to field clearance. The wall that surrounds it contained a few large blocks, but as there are other large stones in the neighbourhood, this was not felt to be significant, and concluded that there is little evidence of a stone circle at this spot.
