Full Description

A metal detecting survey and watching brief were carried out by MAS in 2020. No prehistoric or medieval objects were located during the metal detecting (A McPherson) in November. artefacts recovered comprising agricultural iron fragments and 18th - 20th century domestic artefacts including tin cans. Two coins were found, a George III halfpenny dating between 1770 and 1807m and a worn 1929 penny. A crushed silver object appears to be a top or ferrule from a walking stick. The material is likely to have resulted from accidental loss or spreading of midden material. The subsequent watching brief in December during topsoil stripping for a new house recorded no archaeological features.
