Full Description

An archaeological watching brief was conducted from August 2015 to June 2016 by AOC Archaeology prior to development, after a walkover survey and desk-based assessment had been conducted on the development area (NJ44SE0088). One prehistoric fire pit was recorded. The charcoal from the pit comprised primarily alder with hazel also present. The function of this pit was unclear during excavation but it was probably a hearth, and alder and hazel were used as a fuel source.
