Full Description
A test pit was excavated in September 2014 as part of the Rhynie Environs Archaeological Project to investigate a feature identified in 2013 when a charcoal rich layer was identified when creating a paved drive at Nicoll Lodge (NJ42NE0176). Samples taken in 2013 produced a radiocarbon date indicated a Bronze Age date for the feature. The 2014 work concluded that this was likely to have been a sub-circular ring ditch feature perhaps the remains of a round house.
