Full Description

Remains of possible cairn, and site of a possible stone circle or standing stones. OS Name Book (1864) records that the then tenant stated that there were formerly some large upright stones called 'Standing Stones'. None remain at that location. Several stones on top of the knoll were probably cleared from the adjoining cultivated land. RCAHMS site visit 1983 recorded what may be the remains of a cairn, reduced to little more than a stony scarp around the summit of a knoll, and measuring circa 12.5m in diameter. There are two possible kerbstones on the south, with a third on the southwest, measuring 0.6m by 0.2m at the base ands 0.30m in height. The 'standing stones' removed in the 19th century may have been large kerbstones.
