Full Description
Possible standing stone. It is a free standing block of granite believed by WD Simpson to be a Bronze Age standing stone. It measures 1.5m by 0.9m in cross section and stands 2.95m tall. A scar on one corner suggests that the stone has been broken off. It stood in the grounds of Hilton School and may have been replaced there in roughly its original position when the school was built (although the OS 2nd edition map shows it circa 20m to the north of its current position). It is now within a housing development, enclosed within iron railings set on a circular plinth.
