Full Description

Cattle rubbing stone and possible standing stone, which measures 0.55 m in breadth by 0.42 m in thickness and rises to a pointed top at a height of 1.07 m. A walkover survey was carried out by CFA Archaeology in April 2024 (NJ71SE0166), prior to the proposed development of a hydrogen plant. The stone measured approximately 1.9 m in length (east- northeast to west-southwest) by 0.5 m in width and 0.4 m high. The stone had been split, and half of a ‘plug and feather’ borehole is evident in section on its upper face. It lies prone within the field. There are lots of plough scores on the north face, suggesting that it was never a standing stone
