Full Description

Remains of church, of medieval date dedicated to St Peter. It is thought that this was originally the site occupied by a church founded by St Drostan in the 6th century AD, but this is not certain. The church, which was situated in a graveyard, was pulled down in the mid 18th century as part of William Duff , Lord Braco's, improvements to the policies around Rothiemay Castle, and was replaced by the new church built at Milltown of Rothiemay (NJ54NW0031). The remains consist of exposed footings which have been excavated by Col Forbes in the early 20th century. The footings are up to 0.3 m high, and from 0.9 to 1.2 m in thickness. Possible graveyard though no visible remains other than a gravestone, with illegible inscription, that lies in interior of church.
