Full Description
Possible Recumbent Stone Circle and cairn, mutilated by excavation. The cairn is formed of small boulders which rested on a foundation of large stones on the outside. Cairn was formed into a ridge all round, higher than general ground surface, and from this sloped down to centre. A standing stone stood on the west side of cairn and a smaller stone stood slightly outside the cairn at the east side. The cairn contained five cists, three with urns and one with unburnt bones. In the ridge two cinerary urns had been deposited, one inverted on a stone slab. Another hole held unburnt bone. In centre of cairn a great deposit of burnt earth and stones with small fragments of urn and charred wood, also numerous chips of white quartz.
