Description

The excavation uncovered metal-working slag and areas of burning indicating hearths and a small iron-smelting complex, which was subsequently excavated (see MAB49827). A small clearance cairn to the south of the Tarras farm was also investigated, and concluded to be the result of relatively modern agricultural clearance. Samples of slag & furnace debris taken.
