Full Description

Farmstead, still in use. Depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1867 as a quadrangular steading with central courtyard, rectangular building to the south, farmhouse, rectangular building and sluice to the southeast. On the 2nd edition of 1888 the building to the south has been removed while the building to the southeast has been altered to an F-plan and sluice is now labelled as a mill dam. All of these buildings survive. The farmhouse dates from the18th century and is 2-storey, rubble-built with an evenly courses front. The steading is single-storey with lofts, of squared red granite rubble, the centre of the front projecting with three segmental arches and pediment gable. Survey of limekilns in Upper Donside in 2002 noted a kiln on the Glenbuchat Estate map at NJ 3856 1686 but no trace was found during a site visit.
