Full Description

Hut circle, with an entrance on the south, part of a more extensive field system/settlement (NJ40SW0007).. The upper side is set into the hillside, the interior level, not scooped. Prior to excavation by Abercromby in 1904 there was a rectangular hole on the lowest eastern point of the wall formed at ground level by three large quadrangular boulders, 0.53m wide by 0.30m high by 0.61m deep. It is suggested that this was possibly a cupboard. To the east of the entrance a hole extended below the wall, 1.98m long by 0.61m wide by 0.45m deep and 1.98m below the surface of the ground, possibly a souterrain. There are traces of hearths to east of the entrance, three being superimposed on one another. Some worked flint was found.
