Full Description

Lodge, farmstead and kennels, in use, depicted on historic mapping. The 1st edition map shows an F-plan steading with an L-plan building to the south To the north is a smaller L-plan range and adjacent rectangular building, and to the northeast of these are the kennels. By the time of the 2nd edition the L-plan building had been extended to the north, the F-plan range had been altered and two small buildings added to the north of this. The map also shows a second kennels to the northwest of the existing ones. There have since been further alterations and additions. Building recording of the bothy and range to the south was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in October 2021 prior to proposed demolition. Both buildings were in poor condition. The northern building of the two, built in the mid 20th century, is on an L-plan, harled with slate roof and concrete lintels throughout. To the south, the second L-plan building dates in part (north wing) from the 18th or 19th century as a stable building, and retains a red brick floor and remains of wooden stalls. The west wing has a stone core of 19th century date with mid and late 20th century additions and internal refitting.
