Full Description
Tillypronie House, built in 1867. It is a two-storey E-plan lodge with hipped roofs over the projecting bays. The house was originally built by Sir James Clark, son of Sir John Clark who was physician to Queen Victoria. The front hall has Jacobean style panelling and a strapwork plaster ceiling, while the morning, dining and drawing rooms are quite small and discrete and face the view. A long, low service wing was added in 1928, with a series of five gables. Tillypronie House is also thought to have been built on the site of a manor, possibly medieval date. Junior boys and girls from Albyn School were evacuated to Tillypronie House 1943-45.
