Full Description

The remains of a stone circle which has been considerably mutilated, is defined by a large cairn of stones circa 27.4m in diameter. Lying about 1.9m inside the edge of the cairn is a huge recumbent stone which is approximately 3.35m long by 1.52m broad. Only one upright stone, circa 0.61m high, remains in the north of the circle, but this may have been erected at a later date. Two other stones which are about the same height are leaning outwards, and 27 others, which are between 1.50m and 1.92m long, have fallen or become displaced. To the east of recumbent is a large stone leaning outwards, which may be the only one of the ring of standing stones left. Most of the stones described by Ogston in 'The prehistoric antiquities of the Howe of Cromar' are merely large stones.
