Full Description

An iron-girder railway viaduct, opened by Great North of Scotland Railway and built in 1883-1886 by Blaikie Bros, engineers. It is a remarkable structure, with a 107 metre (350 feet) long bowed central truss and six plain truss approach spans, each 30.5 metres (100 feet) long. The approach spans are carried on circular ashlar piers with granite capitals. The great width of the main span was necessitated by the wandering course of the Spey near its mouth. The bridge is no longer used for the railway (which closed in 1968), but is pedestrianised as a part of the Speyside Way. Partial collapse of west end of bridge in December 2025.
