Full Description

Croft depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition map shows two buildings either side of a track, then named Nether Cullieshangan. By the 2nd edition map the building south of the track had been removed, but two new buildings and an enclosure added. It was then named Tore Croft. The smaller building has since been removed. Field survey in May 2022 ahead of a proposed overhead 132kV line (NJ25SE0078) recorded two stone cottages either side of the track. Both measured 11 m by 5 m. The north cottage was set into the south-facing slope within a drystone retaining wall measuring 0.4 m wide and 1.5 m high.
