Full Description

Distillery, still in use, founded by William Grant and Sons in 1886, with the first spirit produced on Christmas Day 1887. Modernised in recent years, but the old malting kilns and stills survive. It has has its own on-site cooperage, and its stills continue to be coal fired. It is an unusual distillery in that it it is still owned and run independently by the same family (along with Balvenie distillery, NJ34SW0007), and it is also the only Highland malt which is distilled, aged and bottled on-site. A photographic survey of Warehouse 5 was carried out in 2015 ahead of proposed demolition.
