Full Description
Distillery, founded by William Williams and Sons Ltd in 1897-98. Renovated in 1962. A second distillery was built, adjacent to the original one, in 1972. The original distillery stopped production in 1985. The original distillery was the seventh and final distillery to be built in the 19th Century in Dufftown. It had a single malting kiln, with traditional pagoda-style roof, small still house, with only 1 pair of stills, and a 1-storey and attic bonded store. The machinery was originally driven by a large 14ft water wheel. Reportedly the favourite whisky of King Edward VII.
