Full Description

Low rectilinear turf-covered platform of earth circa 24 m x 17 m containing possible building stones with walling apparent round the perimeter. Possibly remains of old croft. Traditionally believed to be a mass burial place of those slain at the Battle of Mortlach in 1010 AD. Name and tradition still known locally, but the site is heavily overgrown. Traces of a sub-division are visible in the interior but no evidence of a building. The site is depicted as a small plantation on the 1872 edition of the OS map. Visible remains are unlikely to be of any great antiquity.
