Full Description
Lodge, still in use, built in 1886 and attributed to Bruce and Sutherland of Banff. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a rectangular building, with a narrower section at the north-west end. On the 2nd edition OS map there are additions to the north-west, and a curved addition to the rear north-east elevation. Current maps show some later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay gate lodge, with white harled walls, mock timber framing to the first floor and white painted ashlar margins. The central round-headed doorway is flanked by similarly detailed windows. Two first floor windows break the eaves in the outer bays, in jerkin-headed gablets. A rear projecting bowed stair turret is set under a bowed piended roof. The piended slate roof has projecting eaves, decorative tile brattishing, apex finials and a central ashlar stack. A photographic survey was carried out in February 2017 prior to proposed alterations and repair.
