Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows an L-plan range forming the north and west sides of a court, with rectangular buildings on the east and south sides. To the south is a mill dam and pond, the pond fed by a lade running from the Burn of Rosarie. The steading had been extended to a quadrangular plan by the 2nd edition map. A section of the lade (between the farmstead and the pond) has been recorded by FC survey of the woodland. Remains of the pond and lade were also recorded during field survey in May 2022 ahead of a proposed overhead 132kV line (NJ25SE0078). The pond now comprises a hollow/channel 5 m wide and 0.7 m deep, while the lade continues to the north for 100 m. To the south-west of the pond, the mill lade continues within a steep creek in dense woodland.
