Full Description

Farmstead depicted on the OS 1st edition map. It shows a U-plan steading open to the north, with a rectangular building set against the field boundary to the north. West of the steading is another building with attached garden enclosure to the northwest of which is a limekiln and to the south of which is a possible pond. The 2nd edition map shows that the northernmost building had been removed, although another small structure had been added immediately north of the steading. Four small conjoined enclosures are shown attached to the steading. Another building has been added to the west but the pond is no longer shown. The current map shows that the steading and adjacent building has since been removed, and that south of the house is now disused. The limekiln (NJ31SE0181) does not appear on the current map but site visit in 2002 (as part of a survey of limekilns of upper Donside) noted that the outline of the former site can be made out as a depression in the bank. The stones had been removed with some remaining boulders scattered on the bank below.
