Full Description

Remains of a limekiln that is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps, recorded by site visit as part of a survey of limekilns of Upper Donside (2002-3). The kiln has largely collapsed, but the outline of the bowl can be made out under the turf and grass. The kiln measures 7 m in external diameter, with a bowl 3 m in diameter. The front of the kiln is reduced to ground level with a spread of large stones on the bank.
