Full Description
Remains of a small settlement shown on OS historic maps. The 1st edition (25 inch 1869) shows a long row of five buildings with attached garden enclosures on their east side some with smaller buildings and a sundial. To the north is a long building. The 1st edition 6 inch map also shows a limekiln to the west. By the 2nd edition of 1888 the kiln is no longer depicted. Only two buildings - that to the north and part of the west row - are shown on the present map. Field visit in 2002 to the site of the limekiln (part of a survey of kilns of Upper Donside) recorded only a spread of stones on the steep bank on the west side of the Semeil burn.
