Full Description
Remains of a souterrain. Only the entrance can now be seen as a dry-stone-lined rectangular pit. A lintel stone at the base of the west side marks start of passage. It has in part been robbed to form a garden wall. The souterrain was discovered in 1863 underneath an apparent occupation area marked by a fireburnt pavement of slabs with beads, and quern fragments. A denarius and bronze armlets were found at the site of the entrance several years before 1863.
