Full Description

Remains of a lime kiln depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps, although it appears to have been disused by the time of the latter on which it is annotated as an 'Old limekiln. It was recorded by a survey of limekilns of upper Donside in 2002. The draw hole is 1.5m high and 1.2m wide, with three lintels in place. Another lintel, 2m long, is lying on the ground amongst a spread of stones. The kiln walls are 1.7m thick, and the bowl measures 3m in diameter.
