Full Description
Farmstead still in use with the associated remains of a lime kiln. On the OS 1st edition it comprises a group of five buildings, the southeast one with an attached enclosure, itself joined to a second, possible garden, enclosure to the south. By the time of the 2nd edition the smallest building had been removed and the two southernmost buildings remaining had been enlarged. A horsemill is shown on the north side of then northeastern building. At this time the limekiln appears to be disused as it is annotated 'old limekiln'. There have since been further alteration and only two buildings remain, in use. Site visit in 2002 noted that much of the limekiln's structure was under grass, and the draw hole has collapsed, although the rear of the bowl structure is complete and shows signs of vitrification. The kiln has an external diameter of 6.5 m and the bowl is 3.2 m in diameter.
