Full Description

Farmstead still in use depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition OS map shows a C-shaped building with court open to the south-east and two outbuildings to the north-east. The 2nd edition OS map shows that one of the northern outbuildings has been removed and there is a new outbuilding north of the main building. The 2005 map shows that the remaining outbuilding to the north-east and the main building are still in use and have been modified. To the northwest of the farmstead the OS 1st edition map shows a limekiln but this does not appear on the 2nd edition. A survey of limekilns of Uppper Donside in 2002/3 recorded the remains of the kiln, comprising a depression in the bank with some of the stonework of the rear of the bowl visible, although most of the stones have been removed.
