Full Description

Remains of farmstead depicted on historic OS maps. An L-shaped farmstead with a small building to its south, almost forming an L-shaped steading with open court to the east, is depicted on the OS map of 1867. An enclosure lies to the east with a small building to its north, and two to the west. A limekiln lies to the west at NJ3655 1748. By the 1888 edition the small building to the north has gone and the limekiln is marked as disused. Today the kiln is not depicted and the farmstead is now ruined. RCAHMS field visit in 1998 observed that nothing is now visible of the cottage and, with the exception of a short stretch of walling at the north end of the range, and that the rest of the farmstead has been reduced to grass-grown footings. Field visit in 2002 as part of a survey of limekilns of Upper Donside noted a slight depression with scattered stone remains as the only visible evidence of the kiln.
