Full Description
Remains of a limekiln that is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd edition edition OS maps, although it appears to have gone out of use by the later 19th century, and is annotated as 'old limekiln' on the 2nd edition map. It is a large kiln of over 7m external diameter, with the remains of wide flanking buttresses to either side of the draw hole. The draw hole, 1.8m wide, approximately 2.3m high, is intact with six lintels supporting the bowl. There is a spread of stones below and to the sides of the kiln which are mostly field clearances.
