Full Description

Lime kiln, of early 19th century date, It is a handsome tapering, circular, drystone rubble kiln with tall corbelled draw-hole. This is one of the better preserved kilns in the area. It is 3.7 m high at the front and 5.4 m in diameter. The large draw hole is 2.3 m in height, 1.65 m wide with five lintels supporting the weight of the kiln bowl which is 3.1 m in diameter. There is a small opening above the draw hole, possibly an air vent, with two secondary air vents lower down the bowl. There is significant collapse of the stonework at the rear of the kiln.
