Full Description

Building on the corner of Batchen Street and South Street, still in use, shown on the OS historic maps, which included a former public-house first shown on the 2nd edition map. It is a 4-storey building, constructed of sandstone. No. 40 Batchen Street has a shop at ground floor, the shopfront dating from the 1930s. No. 63 South Street also has a 1930s shopfront, with 2-storey cladding in black polished granite with Art Deco detail. At first floor level this has three windows each with stained glass panels with geometric Art Deco inspired designs.
