Full Description

Large range comprising two linked properties of differing dates and styles, unified by white rendering. Formerly Gordon Arms Hotel, latterly ground used as retail premises. Currently vacant. The building to the left dates from circa 1800, and is 4-storey and 5-bay with central entrance and regular fenestration to first, second and third floors excepting a modern canted bay window to right, at the first floor. Cornice between second and third floors, and at wallhead with blocking course. Central panelled wallhead stack and end gable stack and quoins to left. Building to right dated 1888 is 3-storey, 3-bay with canted bay window at centre, first and second floors flanked by pilasters. Channelled quoins and cornice and cill band between first and second floors. The shop dates from 1936 when it was installed by Burtons, opened on 19 June 1936 as recorded on two datestones on the shopfront.

Period Notes
Listed 20/08/1981. Building to the east was built in circa 1800 and the building to the west is dated 1888.
