Full Description

Commercial property on High Street. Mid 19th century, 3-storey corner block building currently in use as a bank. It comprises 4 bays to both High Street and Commerce Street and is built of channelled ashlar on the ground floor with an ashlar facade above, polished ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins. The shopfront was inserted in the 1930s, but there are original round headed sash windows to first and second floors. There is a carved head above the corner entrance. On the OS 1st edition map it is annotated as a Mechanics Institute.
