Full Description

Foundry, established in early 1856, originally for the purpose of carrying out repairs to the adjacent woollen mill (NJ26SW0038). It later branched out on its own and began to build and supply reaping machinery, steam engines, distillery and mill equipment. The two-storey office and workshop block is 19th century, with Gothic windows. The moulding shop is early 20th century. It is is a two-storey and attic, nine-bay building, with a projecting wide centre gabled bay to both the front and rear elevations. There is a birdcage bellcote to the front gablet, a quatrefoil vent to the South gable and two Gothic arched doors and windows in the West gable. There are later skews and skewputts. Multi-pane glazing is used, and there are end stacks and a slate roof.

Established 1856; Office block built 1884, altered 1968. Moulding shop built in the early 20th century. Listed designation given on 20/08/1981.
