Full Description
Natural feature, the site with its banks, appearing on the 1867 1st edition OS map and all subsequent editions. The banks, forming an approximate square 90m in width, is suggestive of a defensive structure. This is further reinforced with the name of the hill itself. A large cairn of stones was removed from a knoll on the east side of Rebel Hill in 1847 by Mr Howlie, Upper Boyndlie, but nothing of interest was discovered. No further information at this time.
