Full Description

Chalk flint deposit. The major source of flint in Scotland occurs on the ridge of high ground which runs west for circa 10 miles from the coast to Hill of Dudwick. The flints, yellow in colour, occurs in the form of gravel, pebbles, nodules and boulders. Possibly Neolithic flints from Annage (name not located - but could be Arnage (Arnage Castle: NJ 935 370) intended) are in Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology (72.59).
