Full Description
Peat deposit exposed along shore alongside the Roseisle Forest. The upper 0.3m is being actively eroded from the shore section and on the foreshore over approximately 0.8 km of coastline, as recorded by Scotland's Coastal Heritage at Risk Project. During storms large blocks of peat are broken off and redistributed on the foreshore. In places the peat contains tree trunks, branches and roots, including oak and birch. Two potentially worked pieces of wood have been found in the peat. Further site visit was undertaken in June 2022 as part of the SCAPE Community Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (CCZAS).
