Full Description
A number of ring ditches and other indeterminate cropmarks are visible on an aerial photograph. They could represent the remains of an unenclosed settlement of prehistoric date. An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Headland Archaeology in September 2007 over a very small corner of the southern part of the cropmark area prior to housing development. No significant archaeological features were revealed in this southern area, however the majority of cropmarks are concentrated in the central and northern areas therefore archaeological remains may still survive. Trial trenching evaluation was carried out by AKD Archaeology on the central area in March 2019 ahead of proposed housing development. Fourteen trenches were excavated but no features or artefacts of archaeological significance were encountered.
