Full Description

Remains of clearance cairns and stone spreads, recorded during a walkover survey by Highland Archaeology Services in November 2021 (NJ25SE0065). The area contained several rubble constructed clearance cairns set within, or next to, a possible stone built rectangular structure or enclosure, located along the top of a field north of Barluack farm (NJ25SE0031). The remains of a possible rubble embankment or boundary wall appeared to align with a boundary wall line depicted on the 1st edition OS map, which is no longer shown on the current edition OS map. This may indicate that these features are clearance remains from the boundary wall when it was later demolished.
