Full Description

Remains of clearance cairns and stone spreads, recorded during a walkover survey by Highland Archaeology Services in November 2021 (NJ25SE0065). Cairns and rubble spreads are located along a strip of ground above an agricultural field on the lower slopes of Stony Hill, including the remains of fourteen rubble constructed cairns ranging from 6 m to 2 m in diameter and a large spread of large angular stones. Several of the cairns are located side by side in close proximity to each other. These remains could relate to possible stone clearance from the fields, or earlier features that had been present in the area since removed.
