Full Description
An area of sinuous rigs is visible as crop marks in a field on the south side of Loch Kinord, to the west of Clarack Farm. There is also a dark almost Z-shaped solid crop mark on the north side of the rigs, which may possibly represent the site of a building. Nothing is depicted at this location on the OS 1st or 2nd edition maps. Fieldwalking by the Mesolithic Deeside Project in 2022 recorded a scatter of lithics across the field. The 16 worked flint lithics included four flakes, three small flakes, three blades, a barbed and tanged arrowhead, and a scraper. Four pieces of burnt flint and a piece of slag were also recovered. Flakes and blades indicate that the area was occupied in the Late Mesolithic. The barbed and tanged arrowhead dates from the Early Bronze Age.
