Cropmarks and other features, recorded by desk-based assessment, geophysical survey and walkover survey were carried out by AOC Archaeology between 2017 and 2018 ahead of proposed development across four fields.

Cropmarks and other features, recorded by desk-based assessment, geophysical survey and walkover survey were carried out by AOC Archaeology between 2017 and 2018 ahead of proposed development across four fields. Two sites were previously recorded within the area NO53NW0029 (cropmarks of enclosure/settlement) and NO53SW0078 (site of cottage), and earlier trial trenching (NO53SW0113 ) included a small part of the westernmost field but no archaeological features were found in this area. A range of possible features were identified from aerial photography to the west of the enclosure/settlement. Walkover survey was undertaken in July 2017 across the four fields, but no above ground archaeological features were observed. Geophysical survey in 2018 recorded some anomalies in three of the fields which would be characteristic of buried archaeological remains. The DBA also notes the route of a trackway across the western field as shown on the OS 1st edition maps.
